THE CHALLENGE
Why Standard Control Panels Fall Short in Healthcare
Limited Visibility
Operations lack visibility of real plant states and environmental conditions.
Poor Integration
Traditional panels don't integrate well with surgeon's panels or clinical interfaces.
Unclear During Faults
Systems often have no defined behaviour during faults or PLC failures.
No Structured Fallback
Without a fail-safe strategy, airflow continuity and patient safety can be a risk
THE SOLUTION
A Control Strategy Built for Healthcare - Not Adapted To It After
The iX-HTM is a purpose-built extension of the iX platform, designed specifically for healthcare ventilation applications...
Clear Status & Alarms
Provides meaningful, real-time visibility of plant conditions, including airflow, humidity, and operating modes.
Environmental Visibility
Live temperature and humidity values are exposed clearly, giving users direct insight into how the system is performing in real conditions.
External Mode Control
Supports external inputs for operating modes and setpoints, allowing the system to respond to different room states and occupancy.
Fail-safe Continuity
A structured fallback strategy ensures safe and controlled operation, maintaining airflow even in the event of PLC failure.

1
AHU Control Requirement
The process begins with the healthcare AHU and the ventilation requirements of the clinical space. The control strategy is shaped around the room’s operating needs, airflow expectations, environmental conditions, and critical-use requirements.
2
iX-HTM Control Panel
The iX-HTM panel manages the AHU using a healthcare-focused I/O and control strategy. It handles alarms, operating modes, environmental values, external requests, and fail-safe behaviour from one structured control platform.
3
Surgeon’s Panel Integration
Key information is made available to the surgeon’s panel, including plant status, alarms, temperature, humidity, setpoint adjustment, full-speed operation, setback mode, and UCV interlock signals.
4
Operator Visibility & Control
The operator receives clear, meaningful information rather than basic run/fault indication. This improves confidence, reduces ambiguity, and helps clinical or estates teams understand how the ventilation system is performing.
5
Fail-Safe
Continuity
If a PLC failure occurs, the iX-HTM supports a hardwired local override strategy. Dampers open first, end switches confirm position, and fans can then be controlled locally using potentiometers to help maintain airflow continuity.
